Rotary Cutting Mats

A cutting mat helps to protect your table's surface from getting damaged as you cut your fabrics. It's used when sewing quilts and other stitched projects. A sewing mat typically has measurements printed on its surface in 1" increments and may also have lines for 30-, 45- and 60-degree angles, which is helpful when cutting out triangles and other shapes. The preferred cutting tool for quilters is the rotary cutter. Rotary cutters come in various blade sizes, give you a clean cut and are super easy to use. Good quality scissors will also get the job done, but stitchers often find that scissors are harder to work with and can leave jagged edges.
