Free Cross Stitch Patterns

• Fabric: The most common fabrics for cross stitching are Aida and linen.
• Floss/Thread: Look for the color key on your pattern. It will tell you the name/number of the colors you'll need to buy.
• Scissors: It's wise to purchase a pair of scissors that will be used only for sewing. Otherwise, they may become dull, and it will be difficult to cut your thread.
• Embroidery Hoop: A hoop holds your fabric taut, so you can cross stitch cleanly and keep the fabric from puckering.
• Needle/Needle Minder: Tapestry needles have a blunt end ideal for cross stitch projects. A gold-plated needle is even better because it won't rust and leave marks on your fabric – plus, it threads nicely. A needle minder is not essential, but it is handy to keep tabs on your needle easily.
• Floss Organizer: Definitely nice to have, a floss organizer keeps your thread tidy – something you'll appreciate if you've ever had to untangle a thready mess.
